Giuseppe Garofano

Mr. Giuseppe Maria Paolo Garofano is the Vice-Chairman of Quercus Assets Selection Sàrl.

Mr Garofano serves as President of RCR Cristalleria Italiana S.p.A., Industria e Innovazione S.p.A and Manucor S.p.A. and serves as an Executive Director of Miroglio S.p.A. and Miroglio Textile s.r.l.  He served as an Advisor at Efibanca S.p.A. and served as Chief Executive Officer and President of the multinational Montedison Corporation from 1990 to 1992.  In 1996, he founded the consulting firm IBI SpA – later merged into Alerion S.p.A. and served as its Vice President. From 1993 to 1995 he worked as a freelance company consultant. He founded IBI which later evolved into Alerion Industries. He served at the Istituto Mobiliare Italiano and Morgan Stanley First Boston, New York. He served as Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Iniziativa Meta.

He has a broad professional experience and holds top-level positions in chemical, banking and financial companies. From 2003 to 2014, he worked first as Chief Operating Officer and then as Vice President of Reno De’ Medici S.p.A. He serves as the Chairman of Previdente Assicurazioni. He has been the Chairman of the Board of Industria e Innovazione S.p.A. since May 2009. He served as Chairman at Montedison from 1990 to 1992. Mr. Garofano served as the Chairman at Reno De Medici S.p.A. and Europoligrafico S.p.A, a subsidiary of Reno De Medici Spa until May 2009. He served as the Deputy Chairman of the Board for Reno de Medici SpA since May 2009. Mr. Garofano was Vice-Chairman at both Fondiaria S.p.A. and Milano Assicurazioni S.p.A. He served as Deputy Chairman and Director of Società Iniziative Autostradali e Servizi S.p.A. He was Vice Chairman and Director of Alerion Clean Power S.p.A. He serves as a Member of the Board of Banca Mercantile and a Member of the Advisory Board of EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development). He serves as a Member of the Board of Gemina, Rizzoli. He also is a Member of CBM S.p.A., Autostrada Torino Milano S.p.A. and Fondazione Casa della Carità BOD.

Mr. Garofano has been a Director at ASTM S.p.A. since May 10, 2007. He served as Director of RAS and Deutsche Bank Italia, Mediobanca – Banca per il Credito Finanziario S.p.A. He served as a Director of Reno De Medici SpA and Europoligrafico S.p.A.

He obtained a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Milan Polytecnico in 1968, as well as a S.D.A. diploma in Business Economics at the Bocconi University of Milan (Business Administration master). He is a Chemical Engineer and Economist.
